Homelessness is not a choice.
The reasons men and women experience homelessness are as diverse as they are.
To address the challenge, Human Services Campus, which owns and manages the 13-acre campus housing 16 independent nonprofit and government organizations collaborating on a range of services, is seeking Phoenix City Council approval to add more shelter beds.
As part of the formal approval process, presentations are required at 3 City of Phoenix committees.
We need permission to use our existing space more efficiently for those men and women already on the Campus so more people can sleep inside.
add 275 beds
Add 275 beds at Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), which now has 425 beds that are filled every night. CASS’ Certificate of Occupancy allows for 700 beds.
add 100 beds
Allow Andre House, which owns property adjacent to the Campus, to develop a new 80-100 bed shelter to operate on a 24/7 basis to assist highly vulnerable individuals who may encounter challenges because of pets and possessions that deter them from receiving services.
allow up to 200 beds
Allow up to 200 beds in the St. Vincent de Paul dining room or Lodestar Day Resource Center Day Room during extreme summer and winter weather.
